Mikey’s Favourite Local Places

You might be getting this a lot, but supporting local is more important than ever as Vancouver businesses work to make it through the pandemic and the economic struggles it’s brought along with it. If you’re looking for some new places to explore, here are some of our favourite local shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Walrus

Offering a curated selection of candles, essential oils, and kitchenware, this is a store that is always showcasing local artists. It’s the perfect place to find a gift for a special someone or to treat yourself just because it’s Tuesday.

JJ Bean

We really can’t get enough of their mochas, and with so many locations across Vancouver, it’s kind of impossible to escape them. Something we’re really not mad about 😉.

Biercraft

The name says it all. Biercraft is the perfect spot for a brewsky and wings, or go big with a beer and burger. Either way, you will not regret the good times you will have here.

Tokyo John

Vancouver has a lot of sushi options. But how do you know which is the best sushi place? Well, Mikey found it for you.

Flying Wedge Pizza Co

Ok, but like, who doesn’t love a slice to go?

Choices Markets

When it comes to grocery shopping, Mikey much prefers to head to Choices Markets over big game grocers. Choices has everything you need, while also offering a variety of local brands in their isles.

Sorella

When you’re craving the comfort of Italian food (which happens everyday, right?), Sorella is our favourite restaurant to visit. If you dine in, you’ll adore their cozy atmosphere. And if doing take-out, pour some wine and throw on some soft tunes for a great night in.

Lemonade

This bakery is fully gluten free, which means that you can have all the sweets and bread you like without impacting your specific diet.

Las Tortas

When you think of Mexican food, do you think of sandwiches? That’s all you’ll think about once you try the tortas here.

Rain or Shine Ice Cream

It’s in the name, guys. Vancouverites enjoy ice cream no matter what season, and we love the flavours found at Rain or Shine. Controversial question, do you like chunks or no chunks in your frozen dessert?

Indian Junction Bar & Grill

We have found you the city’s best butter chicken curry. You’re welcome

Cadine

Purposefully selected home goods, clothing, and teas, Cadine is a favourite shop of ours to pop by and browse through. Warning, you can’t leave this store without a little something in your hands.
