Giving the Gift of Grooming

El Barbero greatly believes in community and that’s why this past Sunday we stopped by a local shelter and provided free haircuts and beard trims to men who have been impacted by homelessness and poverty. Seeing the looks on their faces with their fresh new cuts was an incredible experience, but it was their stories that affected us the most.

Take Jerry (we’ll call him), who was living a modest life and happily taking what work he could get, delivering for Foodora. His situation quickly worsened when his bike was stolen and he could no longer deliver food. Barely making ends meet as it was, once he lost his job he was forced to seek help at the shelter. Another young man had been working in sales at a prominent tech company but became tangled in the throes of addiction. Others talked optimistically about prepping for promising job interviews. As they got up from the chair they held their heads higher, smiled brighter and felt more confident about the day ahead of them.

This definitely won’t be our last visit to the shelter and we look forward to continuing to find more ways to engage with and support our community.

Are you looking for a way to help out this season?

We have an easy solution. Swing by and drop off your donation of any NEW men’s grooming supplies and toiletries. We’ll be taking them to the shelter on Christmas Eve.

During our visit we saw that the entire shelter was sharing a handful of towels and half-used bottles of kids shampoos and dollar store razors, it was evident that we, as a community, can make an impact.

Please come by our barbershop and bring a donation or pick up one of our products (15% off) to donate to the cause.

Happy Holidays from Mikey and the El Barbero team!
